This past week I have been contemplating on my production setbacks and have developed a new idea to eliminate the problem of actor unreliability. I have decided to play both the parts of the Radical Muslim and the Moderate Muslim woman. This will mean that I will have to wear both costumes and act both parts then edit it to create the film. This coming week I will start working on the Film poster for my short film after carrying out research into existing film posters relating to Islam to have an idea of what layout, image size, font style, colour scheme and house style to use.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 12
This past week we have been studying the representation of women in the media and by the media. This is a powerpoint presentation created by our teacher to help us understand how to answer the question in Section B of our mock Media exams. Included in this presentation are theories of the representation of women and identity by some of the famous theorists such as Laura Mulvey and David Buckingham. We have our A2 mock exams on the 2nd of December and this presenattion will help us understand and answer the question on media and collective identity in Section B.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 11
After failed reheasal plans with my cousin last week, I continued rehearsing my lines to get into character so that when we get to shoot my short film, I will be prepared and the shooting time will be reduced. This past week I have also been thiking about what soundtrack/music that I will like to add to my short film. As the content of my short film will be solely based on the dialogue between the two characters (the radical Muslim and the moderate Muslim), I decided that it does not need any music or soundtrack that will distract my target audience from its message. Therefore I have decided that the only areas of the film that will have any soundtrack or music are the start of the film, any areas in the dialogue of the two characters to create tension and at the end of the short film. Now that I know where I want the sounds to be, I will be deciding more on which sounds I will be using after carrying out some research.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 8&9
I am happy to have completed the final draft of my script and eventually coming up with a suitable title for the film. Having completed the script, I will now have to map out the the sequence of events in the film on a storyboard. In the storyboard I will be drawing each stage of the film with notes on music, lighting, costume and location. I will also be doing some research into suitable instrumental sounds to use in the short film hence I wont be using music. After creating the storyboard, I will be doing camera tests to decide on which camera will be most suitable for which aspect of the film.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 7
This week I have written the first draft of my script using fact resources such as the study guide of 'Why we Fight' and the Qur'an. Unfortunately, I have not been able to come up with a title for my short film/the script yet, so I will be working on that next week when updating my script.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 6
In the past week, I have done excessive research into important information and quotes which can be used for each character when writing the script. I have successfully found and allocated suitable quotes and information sources to each character which will make it easier when writing the script as I will only have to refer to the exact source. In the weeks coming up, I will be writing my script and creating the storyboard for my short film.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 5
This week I finalized the plot of my short film and wrote my production notes. During the process of writing my production notes, I made changes to the roles of the characters and also altered the development of the plot. In the production notes I included necessary props that I will be using, an explanation of the establishing shot, camera angles tha will be used and sounds that will be used. In the coming weeks I will be writing my script, this involves doing research into the topic area to get accurate facts.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 4
Having watched 'Why we Fight' and 'Control Room', I will be thinking about the plot of my short film. These films have given me an insight and more information on America's use of millitary force on Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. This information is vital as I will be producing a short film on Islamic extremism and as these reasons have not been publicly debated on, it is inspiring to use in my script so that I will shed light on the hidden facts which if exposed can make people who have misconceptions about Islam understand the reasons for Islamic extremism and the influence politics has on it. After deciding on the plot of my short film, I will be writing production notes and will commence writing and doing some research for my script.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 3
This past week I watched two documentary films which were given to me by my teacher. The first film which was 'Jesus Camp' covered the representation of children as the bearers of evil and good by Christians, hence they must be strictly raised to create a world without sin. It also reveals the use of religion as a political tool to gain victory. The other film which was 'Control Room' covered the factual aspects of biased media coverage on delicate issues such as the invasion of Iraq which is one of the main reason of Islamic extremism. These two documentaries have helped shaped the idea for my short film, it has provided two ways that I can do a short film on the topic of religion. In the coming weeks I will be doing more research on religious short films and documentarie on the invasion of Iraq to further decide on what I will want my short film to be on.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 2:- AN IDEA
After watching the debate scene from the Kurbaan film at the start of the week, I have been inspired to do a classroom conversation film too. The plot that this clip has inspired me for my short film is a girl who stands up to her classmates to lecture them about her religion after been constantly bullied because she wears the hijab. However, as I will be carrying out more research tasks into religion based films in the coming weeks, this plot might develop or completely change. This past week I watched the films 'Kurbaan' and ' My Name is Khan' which are both written by Karan Johar and are both based on global terrorism and Islamic misconcemptions. In the coming weeks, I will be researching on and watching more films which are relevant to the topic area I chose.

PRODUCTION DIARY WEEK 1:- A CHANGE OF HEART
When I first found out that I had to make a short film for my A2
media coursework, the two genres that popped into my mind were horror and
science fiction. I believed that I would be creating a short film on one or
even incorporating both genres; therefore I did a little research to find suitable
examples by previous students (my previous post on film inspirations).
However, after putting more thought into it, I decided to gain authorship and produce a film on religion. I felt that this will be the most appropriate direction
to go in because as I am a Muslim, misconceptions of the ethics and morals of Islam is a topic I currently identify with. My
main reason for choosing this topic is to produce a film on current issues
around the world and presently Islamic misconceptions and Islamic extremism
rises above many other issues on news networks. I do realise that this is a
delicate topic which must be presented with absolute perfection and rid of any naivety
and I consider this a challenge. In the upcoming weeks, I will be doing
research on different branches concerning this topic, after which I will be
producing production notes, scriptwriting and writing and essay on film
inspiration analysis.
